Energy Conversion Technologies

These are technologies whose main feature is, or assist in, harnessing and converting energy from one form to another, in particular, energy from low- to zero-carbon sources (i.e. solar, wind, biogas) to usable forms of energy such as thermal and mechanical energies as well as electricity. Technologies that would qualify under this category include, but are not limited to solar, wind, biomass, hydrothermal and geothermal solutions.

Energy Distribution Technologies

These are technologies that transport, or are instrumental in transporting, low-carbon energy from source to point of industrial or consumer end use. Apart from direct energy distribution technologies such as systems and hardware used in electrical grids (transmission or distribution) or pipelines, this category also includes enabling technologies such as data analytics, cybersecurity, safety systems (i.e. sensors, remote monitoring), among others.

Energy Efficiency Technologies

These are technologies that reduce energy waste and/or lower energy consumption, resulting in more efficient use of energy on the supply and demand side, respectively. Technologies under this category include, but are not limited to, solutions that lessen or recover waste heat, improved control systems and measuring of key operations parameters to maximise use of energy, more use of distributed energy generation, and smart metering.

Energy Storage Technologies

These are technologies that capture energy at one time and store it for later use, making it possible to improve the match in production of renewable energy with the market’s demand. Technologies that qualify in this category include electrochemical, electrical, magnetic, kinetic and chemical types of storage solutions.

Carbon Capture, Use and Storage (CCUS) Technologies

Qualified CCUS technologies include, but are not limited to, solutions that can absorb or separate CO2, CO2 looping systems, CO2 transport facilities, means to utilise capture CO2, or reservoirs suitable for storing CO2.
