Job Opening | Sales Director

We are currently seeking an experienced, driven Sales Director, with a proven track record in the exhibition industry.

Responsibilities: 

Your primary responsibility is to maximise revenue from new suppliers on the platform. 

  • You are overall responsible for the entire sales process for new suppliers, from finding prospects to closing the deal.

  • As indicated, our target is to grow to >100,000 technologies over the next couple of years.
  • Multiplying the numbers indicates that we’re going after a multimillion opportunity.


The other key responsibility is to set-up a professional sales organization over time, in line with scaling up the company. Initially, you will have to roll up your sleeves and make it happen. Over time, the sales activities will be more and more delivered through a team set-up and managed by you.
You will be reporting to Vincent van Beusekom, COO/CTO & Co-founder.


In your role, you will be working closely together with others on the team:

  • Work with the Marketing Manager to highlight our offering on social media, newsletters and e-mail campaign; optimise the site content; enhance customer conversion and journey.
  •  Work with our network of country partners to identify sales opportunities.
  • Work with the Customer Success Manager to maximise upsell opportunities.
  • Work with the CIO to build a deeper understanding of suppliers’ behaviours on our site. Marry those insights with data-driven analyses to improve the experience of suppliers on the platform. 
  • Support the Development Team with A/B testing to enhance the customer journey, and to further automate lead generation and the initial steps of the sales funnel.


Although selling subscriptions to end-users is not part of your scope (part of the scope of the CEO and Co-founder), you will work together with him to make sure offerings are aligned.


What you offer, in terms of experience, personality and background:

  • At least 10 years of sales executive experience such as a sales executive, sales manager, sales and marketing director or another related role.
  • Experience in the Exhibition industry, with prior responsibilities and a proven track record to sell exhibition space to suppliers, as well as other ways to increase revenue from suppliers 
  • Demonstrated experience with building and managing teams
  • A curious, pragmatic & assertive team player
  • High energy level
  • Mentality to roll up the sleeves in a scale-up environment
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbally. 
  • Fluent in English.
  • Working in an international environment
  • Digitally savvy

In your role at TechnologyCatalogue.com, you would be working with a very large number of international companies. The suppliers linked to TechnologyCatalogue.com are mostly small to medium-sized enterprises, although we also see usage among large suppliers. Working with all these different companies gives you a unique perspective.


Although the concept of TechnologyCatalogue.com is straightforward, there was no such B2B platform in the energy industry. Although unique, there are synergies between our platform and other types of companies. As an example, we see potential synergies with exhibitions. In the future, we anticipate that many exhibitions will cease to exist and likely be replaced by platforms. Similar to the way that platforms have changed the way we book hotels, connecting supply and demand.


Certain types of exhibitions will continue to exist though, particularly those that come with a high-quality conference organised by an established industry association. By combining an exhibition with our platform, suppliers can continue to generate leads following the event, and users continue to have access to the content after the exhibition. Our platform will also streamline the prep work for an exhibition. It makes it way easier to target the suppliers you want to meet, supported by the data insights that we offer. Of course, most exhibitions have apps, but those apps have different purposes, such as finding a company on the exhibition floor. That is different from what TechnologyCatalogue.com can offer exhibition participants.


We offer

  • A contract of initially 40 hours a week. 
  • A competitive monthly salary, plus bonus payment based on sales.
  • 25 holidays/year based on full-time employment


We prefer a candidate who lives and works in The Netherlands, such that you work multiple days a week in one office with the other members of the core team. The position is however also open to candidates working from other countries.


In case you’re based in The Netherlands, then you will work in our office in The Hague on Tuesdays, Wednesday/Thursday and Fridays, and work remotely the other days of the week.


In case you are based outside of the Netherlands, you are expected to travel to The Netherlands on a regular basis, based on business needs.
